Our collection Listening to the Earth talks about sound. Sound provides a wealth of information on an ecosystem. The collection is also about silence which is the sound of the Earth free of the noise of human activities. It is on the verge of extinction, yet, it is essential for our mental and physical health as well as to simply talk to each other. For Listening to the Earth, we looked at how sound inspired artists, how they use it as a material.
In particular, we have collaborated with Yoann Ximenes, a talented French visual artist whose poetic approach is based on transforming sound into works of art. On some of our garments, we have embroidered the sound of an extinct bird, whose song was recorded before it vanished forever, as a tribute to all the species that share the Earth with us.
